The 24 countries and 15 organisations
participating in the Emergency Joint G24/Consultative Group
meeting for Albania today, pledged US $ 200 million/ Euro 188.6
million to cover external financing requirements in 1999. This
will allow Albania to continue its programme of economic reform
and cover costs incurred by the Kosovo crisis.
The meeting was
co-hosted by the European Commission and the World Bank, and
co-chaired by European Commission Director, Fabrizio Barbaso and
World Bank Director, Arntraud Hartmann. Albania was represented by
the Prime Minister, Mr Pandeli Majko, accompanied by the Finance
Minister, Mr Anastas Angjeli, the Minister of Economic Cooperation
and Trade, Mrs Ermelinda Meksi, and Mr Maqo Lakrori, State
Secretary for Euro-Atlantic Integration.
