The 45 countries and 30 organisations
participating in the Fifth Donor Conference for Bosnia and
Herzegovina pledged US$ 1.05 billion/Euro 992 million today in
support of the 1999 programme of economic reform and
reconstruction in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Donors emphasised their
continued need for full implementation of the Dayton Peace Accords
and expressed strong commitment to assisting Bosnia and
Herzegovina bear the additional costs of the Kosovo crisis.
The Conference was
co-hosted by the European Commission and the World Bank, and
co-chaired by European Commission Director Fabrizio Barbaso and
World Bank Director Christiaan Poortman. The High Representative,
Carlos Westendorp, gave a summary of civilian implementation of
the Dayton Peace Agreement. Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented
by the Co-Chairmen and Vice-Chairman of the Council of Ministers,
Messrs. Silajzdic, Mihaijlovic, and Tomic, the Prime Ministers of
both Entities, Messrs. Bicakcic and Dodik, as well as the
ministers of the State and Entity Governments
