Rome Energy Week
Rome,
March 25-28, 2003
The Energy Week was a set of
meetings of the organizations comprising the Athens Process,
at which policy making (the Permanent High Level Group) was
combined with technical decision making (Athens Forum) and
donor coordination. Technical studies from donors' projects in
the field were also presented to aid decision-making, and for
training purposes.
The main policy decisions were:
- To agree to consider a
standard market design for the regional market;
- To agree to widen the Athens
Process to include the gas market as well as the
electricity market; and,
- To incorporate gas market
and environmental issues into a revised Memorandum of
Understanding to be signed at the November 2003
Ministerial meeting in Athens.
