Energy in South East Europe

3rd South East Europe Energy Week

Athens, June 1-4, 2004

The Energy Week is open to government officials, regulators and TSOs of the SEE countries. Some meetings are closed eg meeting specially for Regulators, or TSOs, but the main meeting, the Athens Forum, is open to all. The Athens Forum monitors progress on implementation of the Athens Memoranda and makes decisions about further developments needed for the Energy Community of South East Europe (ECSEE).

The Energy Week also includes seminars or workshops on issues relevant to the work of the Athens Forum. Workshops are planned for the three groups in the electricity sector who have not yet been actively involved in the Athens Process. These are electricity generators, suppliers and traders. These groups are also invited to attend the Athens Forum as observers.

The Agenda for the Athens Forum will include the following issues:

  • Progress on the EC Negotiating Mandate for EU/ECSEE Treaty
  • Developments in the Standard Market Design
  • Reports on benchmarking Regulators and TSOs
  • Peer Review Report on Progress on Legislation required by the Athens MoU 2003
  • Progress Report on implementing CBT mechanism in the SEE Region
