The European Commission and the World Bank
co-chaired a technical meeting of donors in Pristina on February
25-26, 2001. The meeting was prepared in close collaboration
with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).
With the help of donor assistance, significant
progress has been made by the interim civil administration since the
Second Donors’ Conference of November 1999 in putting in place a
sound market-oriented economic framework, in implementing the
reconstruction and recovery program, and in improving conditions for
a self sustaining economy, while decreasing aid dependency.
The meeting discussed the current overall
situation in Kosovo, the economic policy framework, and progress
made in reconstruction and recovery.
UNMIK presented it's priorities for the period
2001-2003, based on the Kosovo Consolidated Budget 2001 and Public
Reconstruction Investment Program for 2001-2003. This meeting was also an opportunity to get up to date information about donors’
plans of assistance for 2001.
