Improvement of a
critical section of corridor VIII around the north of Skopje,
capital of the country. |

Description: |
Construction of 2x2 lane motorway
section, 23 km long, between Saraj, at the junction of the
Skopje-Tetovo road, and Hipodrom, at the junction of the E65
and E75 roads. |

Preparation Status: |
Design available
for first 12 km from Hipodrom; new design required for other 11
km due to change in alignment. |

Economic/Financial Justification: |
Traffic level on
the relevant existing roads through Skopje are between 10 000
and 40 000 veh/day. The estimated economic rate of return of
the project is 11%. |

EUR 89 million |

with EU interest subsidy (signed) EUR 45 million (part of
Roads II project)
