Objective:

Completion of Corridor VIII (East-West) Highway by modernising one of the central sections; adjacent to Rrogozhine-Elbasan (38 km), financed as an on-going EIB-project (East-West Road corridor)

Description:

Rehabilitation and improvement to two–lane, modern road standards of the section Elbasan-Librazdh (31 km)

Tender in 2000

Economic/Financial Justification:

Present road in bad condition, clearly needing rehabilitation

Cost:

Elbasan-Librazdh EUR 14 million

Financing Plan:

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development loan for EUR 10 million signed
Government of Italy grant EUR 2.3 million
Central European Initiative grant EUR 1.7 million
