Infrastructure "Quick Start Package" for the South East Europe Region Moves Forward

Brussels, May 5, 2000

Intensive work is now underway to push forward the "Quick Start Package" (for which implementation can begin within the next twelve months) of infrastructure projects presented to donors at the March 30-31, 2000 Regional Funding Conference for South East Europe. Lead Agencies have been selected for the 35 infrastructure projects.

The projects have also been split into three progressive categories: (A)  projects which are already fully funded and ready to move forward immediately to the contract stage (this currently covers 9 out of the 35 projects); (B)  projects for which lead agencies are now contacting donors who have expressed interest in supporting the projects (16 of the 35); and (C)  projects for which funds are fully available but more time is needed to establish which donors will finance (10 of the 35). The projects in Category "C" will be the subject of a meeting at the Joint EC/World Bank office before the end of May.

Dates on projected start of bidding and work will continue to be added as the projects develop.

This table has been replaced. See the current status of Infrastructure "Quick Start" Projects and Studies, last updated on October 19, 2001
