Second High Level Meeting on Transport 1
London, June
26-27, 2003
The second High Level Meeting (HLM)
on transport infrastructure in South Eastern Europe will be held at
the EBRD premises in London on 26 and 27 June 2003. This meeting
follows on from a first meeting, held in Luxembourg in February
2003, where representatives of the beneficiary countries of the
region discussed the development of a regional core transport
network based on a draft Regional Balkans Infrastructure
Study-Transport (REBIS-Transport). The REBIS aims to establish
investment planning and addresses reform and intuitional
strengthening in the transport sector in South Eastern Europe.
The main objective of the second HLM
meeting meeting will be to reach an agreement by all partners on the
type of organisation structures required in order to ensure the
further development and sustainability of the transport Core Network
for the region. The meeting will also discuss a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) on the development of the core network, which
could be signed later in the year by the countries of the region,
the European Commission and other interested parties.
